USES FOR

1. EXTREME WIND

Playing pickleball in a slight breeze is part of the game, and, it can be really fun. If you are a tournament player, it is critical to play and practice in the wind with a USA Pickleball approved ball.

But when wind really kicks up, it can be frustrating or even downright impossible to play. That is why we developed WINDZeBALL. The first and ONLY pickleball designed for “more normal play in the wind”.

TIPS FOR PLAYING THE WIND

When you are on the court and the wind picks up, assess the situation: the direction, strength and variability of the wind.  Is it in your face, at your back, coming from the side, shifting, swirling, gusting, all of the above?  Also, make certain to practice from both sides of the net, and both sides of the court. Practice a full array of shots, being certain to include 3rd shot drops, dinks, delivering and receiving lobs. BEWARE, wind can affect the ball throughout play:  After your opponent hits the ball, as the ball bounces, after the ball bounces, as you hit the ball, and after you hit the ball.

PLEASE REMEMBER - be careful, have fun ... and keep WINDZeBALL in your bag at all times so you don't get blown off the court!

2. PRACTICE & CONTROL

Striking the ball in the center of your paddle is key for making consistent and controlled shots. WINDZeBALL provides immediate “feedback” to you, letting you know  if you are striking the ball in the center of the paddle.  After practice with WINDZeBALL, you can improve your “strike zone” and play more controlled pickleball.

SPEED PRACTICE

Have you ever wished that your hands were just a little faster when volleying at the kitchen, or, have you ever had challenges returning some bangers’ drives, from half court or full court?

Speed-drilling with WINDZeBALL can help.  Due to the streamlined design and flight of the ball, WINDZeBALL is ideal for hand battles and other “speed drills” on the court.

There are several effective “speed drills”. Below are 2 of our favorites:

1. Banger beware drill:

Player A stands at the kitchen, and feeds WINDZeBALLS to player B, who is at the baseline. Player B “drives or bangs” the WINDZeBALLS back to Player A. Player A then either returns the ball back to the baseline, or, hits a soft volley in the kitchen. Once Player A is comfortable, Player B moves up to half court and resumes the drill. Then, players A and B can switch positions. This drill can be done in teams of 2 as well.

2. Dualling volleys drill:

Player A stands at the kitchen line, and Player B stands across the net at their kitchen line. Both Players aim at the other player’s chest, and hit volleys back and forth. Players increase the speed as the drill progresses. Players can “continue to dial up the speed” ... and/or can each stand inside the kitchen line a foot or so closer to the net. Don’t worry, this is not a fault if you are only drilling ;-) Once comfortable with the “quickness element”, start varying your shots and aim for areas other than your opponent’s chest.

PLEASE REMEMBER - with these drills and everytime you play,  wear safety glasses!

3. BALL MACHINE

WINDZeBALLS design provides the optimal weight and balance to assist with “straight flight”. This makes WINDZeBALL perfect for use in ball machines, which tend to “throw off balls with an unnatural curve”, versus ordinary pickleballs. Similar to a gust of wind, a bad feed from the ball machine can also be a source of play frustration and wasted time.

PLEASE REMEMBER - The pros spend more time drilling and practicing than they do playing!
